Then they sell it to you at a profit and let you pay them back in instalments. This is called a <i>\u2018murabaha\u2019<\/i>\u00a0 contract, (because the bank is buying the property and selling it to you at a profit). Or you could buy the property jointly with the bank, in what is called a <i>\u2018musharakah\u2019 <\/i>(partnership) contract. Over time you pay the bank back for its share of the property until you own 100%. Instead, in return for having ready access to your money, the deposit you give the bank is used as an interest free loan. This loan is known as a <i>\u2018qard\u2019.\u00a0\u00a0<\/i><br \/>Savings accounts also do not earn traditional interest. Instead, the bank will invest the money you deposit in a Shari\u2019ah-compliant opportunity and will pay you part of any profit they earn.
