Investor Q&A March 2022 - Sam from Ascension
Does your business leave the world a better place? Our Investor Q&A focusses on Sam Marchant to find out why he’s backing more ethical businesses.
What we’ve been reading
The Hard Thing About Hard Things – Ben Horowitz
A must read for founders and investors. The Hard Thing About Hard Things dives into the challenges and obstacles founders face from founding the company to exit. The book draws from Horowitz’s experience in building businesses, specifically Opsware which was acquired by HP.
The book describes running a business during ‘War Time’, when large problems arise that need to be overcome and ‘Peace Time’, when the business is running smoothly. Horowitz also covers difficult topics such as firing a loyal employee and dealing with office politics.Â
The Right It – Alberto Savoia
Another great read for founders looking to start new businesses and test ideas. ‘The Right It’ discusses the law of market failure and why a large percentage of products fail. This book introduces the concept of pretoype’s (pre-prototype’s), and why creating one can stop you going down a path with no positive outcome.Â
